Speed Up Your Computer - How to Boot and Startup Your Computer Faster?
First of all, open "System Properties" > "Advanced"> "Startup and "Recovery"> "Setting", cross two ticks in "System Startup", but multi-systems users can remain the tick of "Display the time of operating systems list", and then click "Edit" to make sure that the secondary property is /fastdetect but not /nodetect. And, do not add the property of /nodetect, because guiboot will be used later.
Secondly, set pre-reading in order to improve boot speed.
Click "Start" > "Run", type "regedit" to enter into "Registry", and find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session Manager/Memory Management/PrefetchParameters. Then, find "EnablePrefetcher" in the right window, change its value to 1 (0-disable pre-read, 1-pre-read application, 2-pre-read system startup, 3-both pre-read). If your computer is above PIII 800MHz, you can change value to 4 or 5.
By following above steps, you can enjoy the high speed of re-starting your computer. Besides, there is a way to help you speed up the startup of your system.
First, open "System Properties" > "Advanced"> "Startup and "Recovery"> "Setting", and add /noguiboot to fastdect. By doing this, it does not display any scroll bar when starting your computer. But, if you really like the scroll bar, it is unnecessary for you to do this step.
Second, click "Start"> "Run", type msconfig so you can open MSCONFIG. Then, click "start". In the option, you may find it contains all the applications during operating Windows. Here, you can delete any application as long as you want because there is not any vital application for Windows. Besides, if your computer is still running slow, you may try to close system restore, hibernate support or automatic update. It may assist you in improving your computer speed.
But, if your computer is the later version of windows2000, there is no msconfig. So, you are supposed to download a professional startup manager tool to help you speed up your computer.
Increase PC performances.
There are four steps recommended about how to make conventional optimization to help you in order to optimize your computer system.
Firstly, right-click "My computer" to enter into "System Properties">"Advanced">"Error Reporting" and choose "Disable error reporting" and then click "Startup and Recovery">"Setting", cross "Write an event to the system log", "Send an administrative alert" and "Automatically restart" and set "Write debugging information" to "none".
Secondly, move "My documents" to other districts:Right-click "My documents"> "Properties"> "Move" and choose a folder outside of the system disks.
Thirdly, move IE temporary folders to other districts:Open IE browser, click "Tools"> "Internet options" > "General" >"Browsing history"> "Setting" >"Move folder", and choose the locations outside system disks to save such folders.
Fourthly, start DMA mode in the computer hard drive to speed up the hard disk and your computer performance:Open "control panel" > "Performance and Maintenance" > "system" > "hardware" > "device manager", expand the sub-branch of "diskette driver", double-click the icon of udma hard disk driver into "properties"> "setting" > "options" and tick in the "dma" item. And then click OK to close all dialog boxes and restart your computer.
But, if your computer disk drive is WDC WS1600JS-00NCB1, you may NOT set DMA in diskette drive by the above means. You are supposed to set in "IDE ATA/ATAPT controller". Pull down the menu, right-click "secondary IDE channel" to choose "properties">"advanced setting", and you can set up here. The "main IDE channel" is set in the same way.
The methods mentioned above are just to help you do certain computer optimizations. To holistically increase your PC performance, you need to optimize your registry and clean out invalid, missing and junk registry keys.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Your pants size might help gauge your risk of developing certain cancers, regardless of how much you actually weigh, Dutch researchers report.
A large waist and wide hips signal accumulation of so-called "intra-abdominal fat" -- the particularly harmful deep "hidden" fat that surrounds the abdominal organs and is linked to type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.
"It has been hypothesized that clothing size is related to physique, and it was recently reported that clothing size appears to be a strong surrogate for obesity and intra-abdominal fat," Dr. Laura A. E. Hughes, of Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and colleagues note in the journal Epidemiology.
Using information on nearly 2500 men and women enrolled in a large study of diet and cancer, the researchers validated ties between a person's clothing size and waist and hip size and their body mass index - a standard measure used to tell how fat or thin a person is.
Trouser and skirt size correlated well with waist and hip circumference measurements in men and women, the investigators report.
Hughes and colleagues next looked at whether clothing size could predict cancer risk.
With an average follow up period of roughly 13 years, they found that, in women, bigger skirt size predicted greater risk of endometrial cancer, while in men, bigger trouser size predicted greater risk of kidney cancer in men.
These findings suggest that "clothing size reflects a fat distribution different from that indicated by weight and height," Hughes said in an interview with Reuters Health.
"Our results suggest that clothing size is a useful measure to predict cancer risk in studies where waist circumference is not available," she said.
"Furthermore, it may be useful for future epidemiologic studies to collect clothing sizes in addition to weight and height, especially in populations where obtaining waist circumference is culturally problematic or challenging because of extreme obesity," she added.
"For researchers interested in using clothing size prospectively as a proxy for change in waist circumference," Dr. Hughes added, "it is important to realize that phenomena such as 'vanity sizing' in the modern clothing industry may bias results if not adequately addressed."

SLOT D

THE SECRET OF EINSTEIN'S GENIUS
ARE WOMEN MORE IN TOUCH WITH EMOTIONS?

Close your eyes and spread out your hands, palms facing upwards. Get someone to touch one of your fingertips (say, on the right hand) and with your opposite hand try to touch the correponding finger with the thumb of the same hand. If the information is flowing properly between the hemispheres, you should be able to do this without opening your eyes.
LEARN A LANGUAGE TO STAY YOUNG
One reason for this could be that speaking a second language builds more connections between neurons. Studies show bilingual adults have denser grey matter, especiallyin the part of the brain where language and communication skill are controlled. The increased density was not pronounced in people who learned a second language before the age of five.

All photography was originally monochrome, most of these photographs were black-and-white. Even after color film was readily available, black-and-white photography continued to dominate for decades, due to its lower cost and its "classic" photographic look. It is important to note that some monochromatic pictures are not always pure blacks and whites, but also contain other hues depending on the process. The cyanotype process produces an image of blue and white for example. The albumen process, first used more than 150 years ago, produces brown tones.
Many photographers continue to produce some monochrome images. Some full color digital images are processed using a variety of techniques to create black and whites, and some manufacturers produce digital cameras that exclusively shoot monochrome.
I guess one reason or excuse is that I never took formal photography lessons, because a lot of photography courses include black and white photography as an essential subject.
Yet another excuse could have been that I didn't take pictures often enough, since I did not have that much time and money to pursue this hobby more fully.
But probably the real reason is this: I was afraid.
What if the pictures turn out badly? I was afraid of trying something new, afraid of failure.
Thinking back now, I can understand those who keep posting on photography forums about wanting to take slides, but never got round to doing it. Why can't they "just do it"? I used to think.
I could have said the same thing to myself about black white photography. Why didn't -- and couldn't -- I just do it? In fact, years ago I had bought a roll of black and white film but, for some reason, never shot it!
If you, like me, had never tried black white photography or monochrome photography, I strongly encourage you - Just do it! Don't worry about the pictures not turning out nice. Most of my first roll didn't. Yet I still experienced the magic; I still felt encouraged to want to do more black white photography.
For a start, you can try digital manipulation, using Adobe Photoshop or similar software, to convert your existing color pictures into black and white photographs.
This was what gave me the urge, and the confidence, to shoot my first roll of black and white film.
The photograph of hands was originally in colour but, because of poor lighting (because the picture was taken at late evening and it had a strong blue cast), it never looked it best -- until I decided to turn it into a "black and white hands".
Unlike less expensive models such as the D40, D60, D3000 and D5000, the D90 has a high resolution rear LCD screen, as well as a built in autofocus motor, which means that all Nikon F-mount autofocus-lenses (except the two for the rare Nikon F3AF) can be used in autofocus mode.[6]
The Nikon D90 was the first Nikon camera to include a third firmware module, labeled "L," which provides an updateable lens distance integration database that improves autoexposure functions.[7] [8]

Nikon D90 was introduced as the first ever DSLR with video capabilities, being able to record HD 720p videos with monaural sound. Of note about the video recording feature is that the D90 does not auto-focus while filming video, even when an auto-focus lens is used. In order to keep a subject in focus while it moves relative to the focal plane, the user must manually adjust the focus. As with other DSLRs, its CMOS sensor captures video frames using a method called rolling shutter, which may cause skewing artifacts during rapid camera or subject motion.
According to the Internet Movie Database,[9] the first use of the Nikon D90 to shoot a feature film has been a motion picture entitled Reverie. The film's cinematographer has praised the camera for its dynamic range, its ability to support 35mm optics, and large chip in comparison to standard video cameras within and beyond the D90's price range.[10]
The Nikon D90 has been tested by many independent reviewers since its introduction[11][12]. Most reviews of the D90 have been positive, assessing the D90 as a notable improvement over its predecessor, the Nikon D80. The camera received 4 stars out of 5 in CNET's editor review[13] and Photocrati's Nikon D90 review labeled the D90 a "best value" DSLR[14]. Digital Photography Review also published a highly positive assessment[15], but noted that the only weakness seemed to be that matrix metering on the D90 is tied too strongly to individual focus points, and therefore allows highlights to be clipped in other areas of an image. DxOmark's camera sensor ranking places the D90 above its competitors and even higher priced cameras like the Canon EOS 1D Mark III and Canon EOS 5D, partly due to a high dynamic range.[16]
As noted above, one of the most notable features of the Nikon D90 is that it is the first digital SLR cameras to include high definition video capabilities. While most reviewers gave the D90's HD Video high marks, Nikon expert Thom Hogan noted that the HD Video capability, while novel, was not yet refined, providing only mono sound, and being subject to video flaws such as apparent distorted motion of stationary objects when panning left to right.[17]
Sami Yusuf (born July 1980) is a British Muslim singer-songwriter, Yusuf's music comprises mostly of songs to do with Islam and being a Muslim in today's world. He also deals with many social and humanitarian issues in his music. Presently, he is fast becoming a very popular figure in the Islamic world, having made videos for several of his tracks;[1] according to The Guardian, he "has good claim to being the most famous British Muslim in the world".[2] In 2006 Time Magazine called him "Islam's biggest rock star".[3]
Biography
Sami Yusuf was born in 1980 in the city of Tehran, Iran[2] and moved to Britain when he was three, and he was raised in West London.[4] He comes from an ethnic Azeri family.[5][6] At a very young age he started to play various musical instruments and enthusiastic in keeping interest in singing and composing. He was accepted as a composition student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.[2] In addition to his education in Western harmonics and composition, Sami has a solid understanding of the Iranian and Middle Eastern modes (or Maqams) and is thoroughly acquainted and familiar with both East and Western musical traditions.[citation needed]
Career
Sami has been featured by Time Magazine as "Islam's biggest rock star"[3] and has appeared on the covers of dozens of other mainstream publications around the world[citation needed]. Sami is devoutly spiritual and often uses his art and music as a means of promoting the messages of love, mercy, peace and tolerance, whilst encouraging the youth to be proud of their identity.[citation needed] Sami Yusuf’s songs have revolutionalized the nasheed industry and have given birth to a new genre of modern Islamic music. [7]
2003-2005: First albums
Sami's first album Al-Mu'allim was self-produced and released in July 2003 and attained huge success. His second album, My Ummah, which was released in 2005, comes in two versions, a musical version and one with just percussion. He creates many of his songs in different languages mainly in English, Arabic, Urdu and Turkish and Persian. He has held concerts all around the world, and is albums were mainly popular among young Muslims, in particular Turkey, where his concert gathered up to 250,000 people, at Istanbul in 2007.[8]
Disputed third album
A third album, Without You, was planned for release during mid-2008 but was delayed due to a contractual dispute.[9] An album by that name was then launched by Awakening Records in January 2009.[9] Sami Yusuf subsequently stated on his official website that this album was released without his knowledge or consent, and is a compilation of demos and sketches with a quality inferior to his normally high standards. He has called for fans to boycott it.[10][11] However as of April 2009 Awakening Records continues to feature the album prominently on the Sami Yusuf part of its website,[12] saying that the album is "a complete and high quality album" consisting of "11 professionally recorded tracks".[9] Awakening says it has already made "substantial" payments to Yusuf for his third album, which has been advertised on www.samiyusuf.com since May 2008.[9] Yusuf had previously released two albums with Awakening, and signed for a total of five.[9]
The album features eleven tracks by the artist, written in the languages English, Arabic, Urdu, and Turkish.[13] The songs were all composed, arranged and recorded by Sami Yusuf, and the vocals are also Yusuf's.[9]
Charity work
Sami is known for his charity work which he takes out of his own time to help the needy all around the world. In October 2007 Sami traveled to Sudan and visited Sudanese orphanage as part of support mission to raise awareness for sick children and AIDs victims in the region. Sami urged prayers for peace, recovery and donations through the Muslims to contact their local charities.[14] This was after performing at Wembley Stadium where all profits went to Islamic Relief to help the crisis in Darfur.[15] A year later, in October 2008 Sami traveled to South Africa and in between concerts on his South Africa tour, Sami took the time to visit and help cheer up the children at the The Agape Children’s Orphanage.[16]. In Jan 2009 Sami travelled to Turkey where he was invited by HE Emine Erdoğan, wife of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to attend a rally in support of peace in Gaza.[17]. A month later, in February, 2009 Sami Yusuf has taken part in a Telethon to raise money for the victims of Gaza. The telethon took place in Doha, Qatar on 31 January, 2009 in conjunction with The Al Fakhoora Campaign to raise money for the bereaved and destitute of Gaza. To date over $100 million has been raised.[18]
